Don’t Sit on the Fence, Join the Housing Defense

Village OduduwaThe Bay Area housing market is considered one of the “hottest” in the country. However, more and more housing owners are refusing to accept tenants receiving housing assistance from the State or the Federal government (Section 8 housing). Rents are rising exponentially and housing rents are becoming prohibitive for low and middle income citizens.

The Village Oduduwa board of directors has taken the first step in addressing the issue of housing affordability by creating this fund – the “Housing Defense Fund”.

The primary goal of this two year campaign is to secure funds for the rehabilitation of the 25 Unit Affordable housing currently operated by the Village Oduduwa Housing Corporation. A secondary goal is to raise funds for creating and maintaining more affordable low income housing in the Bay Area.

Village OduduwaFunds raised from this campaign will help us accomplish the substantial rehabilitation and transformation of Village Oduduwa but any surplus will be used to help create more affordable housing that is greatly needed in the Bay Area, including a development to be built on the former Village Baptist Church 1.2 acre property in Marin City, CA. We have already secured preliminary approval from the county to build up to 29 affordable single family housing units on this property.

We need the active participation of all our Bay Area community members in Marin, Sonoma, Solano, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Napa, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties. This is a Bay Area wide effort.

Any amount of donation will help. Please donate any amount today. You can also donate throughout the project period. Housing is not just a need, it is a necessity and it is human right.
